What is a BIN and how do I find mine?

Every building in NYC is assigned a unique 7-digit Building Identification Number (BIN) by the DOB. You can just type your street address into our search bar, and we'll automatically resolve it to the correct BIN for you.

Is this different from just checking DOB BIS?

Yes. DOB BIS only shows Department of Buildings data. It misses Environmental Control Board (ECB/OATH) hearings, monetary balances, HPD violations, FDNY inspections, DEP fines, and landmark statuses. Cornice aggregates 11 different city and state agencies into one unified report.

How accurate is the Local Law 97 penalty projection?

Our projection is mathematically exact based on the building's occupancy class and the square footage filed with the city, minus the actual emissions reported in your latest LL84 benchmarking submission. It perfectly mirrors the city's $268/ton formula.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes. We use Stripe for all billing. You can cancel, pause, or upgrade your plan directly from the Dashboard at any time. There are no lock-in contracts unless you are on a custom Enterprise tier.

Do you perform the repairs or inspections?

No. Cornice is a compliance intelligence platform. However, for every violation we surface, we recommend vetted, licensed specialists (like QEWIs, master plumbers, and expediters) who do that exact kind of work.
